The Ultimate Irony: Is China the 'America' of Asia?
(an article at The National Interest)

Beijing’s claims in Asia look extravagant, however, they are as valid as those made by the United States against Mexico and Great Britain in the mid-19th century.

China hits back at US in annual human rights survey

China accused the United States on Sunday of spying on its own citizens, discriminating against women and ethnic minorities and allowing gun crime to run out of control, in Beijing's annual rebuttal to Washington's criticism of its rights record.

O, snap? Shit jus' go' real? Or not so much.

Quite a lot of changes are expected to happen in 2011 in some of the major countries in the *cough* Axis-of-Evil *cough* Soshulist camp. Well, I'll actually start with a not-so-commie but still quite soshulist state, Brazil. On January 1st, Dilma Rousseff took the golden-green ribbon from her mentor Lula da Silva and she became the next head of state of Brazil. Not a major change of course for one of the fastest developing countries in the world at present (we're talking emerging economies, right?) (Strange, a soshulist country "emerges", how come? Isn't soshulism supposed to destroy countries? But I digress.) But forget Brazil for now. I'd rather focus on some other interesting countries, one with a market that has already "emerged" quite a bit, and two others which are still far from it.

North Korea is bracing for the reign of Kim III, while China awaits for its current vice-president to make just one more step higher up the hierarchy. And meanwhile in Cuba, Fidel Castro has finally resigned (for real!), giving all ruling functions as a leader of the communist party to his brother Raul. And while in Dilma's case she'll be eager to follow the steps of her extremely successful predecessor (she promised she'll be knocking at his door pretty often in the future), the situation with the other "heir-apparents" which are to be appointed rather than elected, still remains unclear.

Some fascinating stuff about three not-so-different EVIL countries )

It seems this is not a happy year for China... I just hope the casualties will stop growing and more globally, that China will have a much better 2nd half of the year (with the greatest Olympics ever made)! The Chinese people definitely deserve a gift like that, for all the troubles that they've gone through...

And - another thing. Just compare the swift and decisive way that the Chinese government has responded to the disaster, and the way the US government "responded" to the Katrina disaster. Make the comparison for yourself.

On the other hand, its appalling that most towns and villages in this area of Sichuan (as many other places across China) are suffering from a chronic lack of proper housing, which might be the main reason for the disproportionate number of casualties :-(
It's an issue worth thinking about...

Wow, Mattel said sorry to China:

Mattel Inc. tried to save face Friday with Chinese officials, taking the blame for the recent recalls of millions of Chinese-made toys as it strives to mend a strained relationship with the nation that makes most of its toys and fattens its profit.

The world's largest toy maker sent a top executive to personally apologize to China's product safety chief, Li Changjang, as reporters and company lawyers looked on. ...

So China is not always the bad demon who chases every freedom loving citizen of the democratic world? How surprising... It's even more surprising that they got an apology. Or is it? The apology was inevitable and necessary. Unless Mattel would be OK about sacrificing the Chinese market.

There has been a huge scandal going on. It turns out Yahoo has provided the Chinese government with personal identity info about the internet action of some political dissidents, which resulted in torture and abuse of human rights.

US Hegemony Spawns Russian-Chinese Military Alliance

This week the Russian and Chinese militaries are conducting a joint military exercise involving large numbers of troops and combat vehicles. The former Soviet Republics of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakstan are participating. Other countries appear ready to join the military alliance.

This new potent military alliance is a real world response to neoconservative delusions about US hegemony. Neocons believe that the US is supreme in the world and can dictate its course. The neoconservative idiots have actually written papers, read by Russians and Chinese, about why the US must use its military superiority to assert hegemony over Russia and China.

Cynics believe that the neocons are just shills, like Bush and Cheney, for the military-security complex and are paid to restart the cold war for the sake of the profits of the armaments industry. But the fact is that the neocons actually believe their delusions about American hegemony.

Russia and China have now witnessed enough of the Bush administration's unprovoked aggression in the world to take neocon intentions seriously. As the US has proven that it cannot occupy the Iraqi city of Baghdad despite 5 years of efforts, it most certainly cannot occupy Russia or China. That means the conflict toward which the neocons are driving will be a nuclear conflict.

In an attempt to gain the advantage in a nuclear conflict, the neocons are positioning US anti-ballistic missiles on Soviet borders in Poland and the Czech Republic. This is an idiotic provocation as the Russians can eliminate anti-ballistic missiles with cruise missiles. Neocons are people who desire war, but know nothing about it. Thus, the US failures in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Reagan and Gorbachev ended the cold war. However, US administrations after Reagan's have broken the agreements and understandings. The US gratuitously brought NATO and anti-ballistic missiles to Russia's borders. The Bush regime has initiated a propaganda war against the Russian government of Vladimir Putin.

These are gratuitous acts of aggression. Both the Russian and Chinese governments are trying to devote resources to their economic development, not to their militaries. Yet, both are being forced by America's aggressive posture to revamp their militaries.

Americans need to understand what the neocon Bush regime cannot: a nuclear exchange between the US, Russia, and China would establish the hegemony of the cockroach.

In a mere 6.5 years the Bush regime has destroyed the world's good will toward the US. Today, America's influence in the world is limited to its payments of tens of millions of dollars to bribed heads of foreign governments, such as Egypt's and Pakistan's. The Bush regime even thinks that as it has bought and paid for Musharraf, he will stand aside and permit Bush to make air strikes inside Pakistan. Is Bush blind to the danger that he will cause an Islamic revolution within Pakistan that will depose the US puppet and present the Middle East with an Islamic state armed with nuclear weapons?

Considering the instabilities and dangers that abound, the aggressive posture of the Bush regime goes far beyond recklessness. The Bush regime is the most irresponsibly aggressive regime the world has seen since Hitler's.
