Personally I think Pratchett is a genius. If you set aside the fact that he talks through allegory, and the characters in his stories are dwarfs, trolls and the stuff who live in a parallel universe where the world is a flat disc sitting on the backs of 4 elephants who are standing on the back of a giant turtle drifting through space.
