I give this behavior due to deep complexes in most people. Give them some power and watch the show. That's why I outright refused to be a mod of talk_politics, in the first place. I know my abilities far too well, to afford causing this to other people. That's also why I'm reluctant to join politics, despite all the political activism on my part, and despite all the persuasions from people in my community. Apparently some people can't handle power, while others are better at it. Just look at Kol, who's probably the best mod I've ever seen in my entire LJ 'career'. :-)
