Champions League - Chelsea win Champions League on penalties



Chelsea stunned Bayern Munich to win the Champions League for the first time after a penalty shoot-out in the Allianz Arena following a tension-soaked final that ended 1-1 after extra time.

Didier Drogba, who had equalised for Chelsea two minutes from time, struck the winning kick past Manuel Neuer as the visitors edged the shoot-out 4-3 after Bastian Schweinsteiger's last kick for Bayern had hit the post.

Chelsea deserved their trophy, if not for anything, at least as a payback for all the pain they had to go through in recent years. Their revenge on Barcelona was especially sweet for them. Well done DiMatteo. He did what he could, and it turned out exactly enough to finally win this thing.

The Special One must be fuming with envy, although he's giving airs about himself that he's enjoying Chelski's success.
