Wow. Just wow. Amazon has bought the rights to film a TV prequel show to Lord of The Rings. I don't know whether to rage or be happy yet. But come on, it's Tolkien, folks! What could possibly go wrong!?
I think the worst outcome is that they would turn it into a family-friendly Game Of Thrones.
The Silmarillion isn’t known for its prose or vibrant characters. It reads more like a D&D campaign manual. That leaves a lot of dramatic structure to fill in, and I can see them going the “sprawling epic” route and forgetting the whimsy and sentimentality that anchored Jackson’s films.
