The Stockholm syndrome

Wyatt Cenac from The Daily Show made a really funny 2-part report about 'Sweden, the dreadful socialist future of America'. Hilarious!

Part 1. Wyatt Cenac finds out firsthand how socialism is ravaging Sweden. He travels to Sweden to wake them up from their socialist nightmare.
Part 2. Sweden may have free health care, but America has Baconnaise. Wyatt Cenac realizes the hopelessness of getting Swedes to apologize for socialism.

Sweden has long been America's "enemy". In the late 1950s Eisenhower invented the little lie that Swede's were so unhappy under socialist democracy they were killing themselves in high numbers. This was never true...but google sweden and "suicide rate" and you'll still still many who believe this...America's biggest export has always been propaganda...

PJ O'Rourke was on the radio here today saying how he worries that if Obama's move towards "socialism" (lol) works, then Americans will be inclined to become more socialist. He then said:

"We know, of course, that socialism doesn't work in the long haul. We don't have to go back very far in history or very far away in geography to find that out, a little visit to Burma will do."

I love the way the right in the US calls even the tiniest piece of regulation "socialism", then when they want to point out that socialism doesn't work they refer to the most backwards, basket case examples they can. I was nearly screaming at the radio: "WHAT ABOUT SWEDEN? NORWAY? DENMARK?"

It seems to me that in this current crisis, the more socialist you are, the better you're doing...
