Wyatt Cenac from The Daily Show made a really funny 2-part report about 'Sweden, the dreadful socialist future of America'. Hilarious!

Part 1. Wyatt Cenac finds out firsthand how socialism is ravaging Sweden. He travels to Sweden to wake them up from their socialist nightmare.
Part 2. Sweden may have free health care, but America has Baconnaise. Wyatt Cenac realizes the hopelessness of getting Swedes to apologize for socialism.

Sweden has long been America's "enemy". In the late 1950s Eisenhower invented the little lie that Swede's were so unhappy under socialist democracy they were killing themselves in high numbers. This was never true...but google sweden and "suicide rate" and you'll still still many who believe this...America's biggest export has always been propaganda...

Kol has told me that Norway and Finland, and Sweden to some extent, do have some of the highest suicide rates in Europe. But the reason is completely different from politics. It's just because of the climate and their gloomy temperament. Generally speaking of course.

You're the same like Kol. You both deny being rich :-P

He does too. With the rest of it, he buys, ... um, may I make a couple of corrections?

the one buying building on fishing wine-growing resorts lawns in the flatlands foremountains of SA

Here, now it looks better.
(What a mess...)

PJ O'Rourke was on the radio here today saying how he worries that if Obama's move towards "socialism" (lol) works, then Americans will be inclined to become more socialist. He then said:

"We know, of course, that socialism doesn't work in the long haul. We don't have to go back very far in history or very far away in geography to find that out, a little visit to Burma will do."

I love the way the right in the US calls even the tiniest piece of regulation "socialism", then when they want to point out that socialism doesn't work they refer to the most backwards, basket case examples they can. I was nearly screaming at the radio: "WHAT ABOUT SWEDEN? NORWAY? DENMARK?"

It seems to me that in this current crisis, the more socialist you are, the better you're doing...

Also this profound grasp of geography strikes me. Burma, a 'not very far away in geography'? LOL :-)

And they're very good in maths as well! Rising taxes from 33 to 36% obviously equals an abrupt transition to socialism. No, I mean Maoist communism!
