Would I be mocked if I expressed my observation that, contrary to most perceptions and some delusions, my impression is that Obama is rather an atheist, but he pretends to be religious to be eligible for president?

I think an open atheist would be elected president in the US long after a female gay Jew is elected president.

If i remember well, all presidential candidates were asked at one of the TV debates during the primaries: "Which of you believe in the Creator?" 100% raised a hand.

Not mocked, but I think it's fair to note that President Obama behaves in every way as a good 21st Century Christian should. I should note from my own POV that these days all Christianity amounts to is Islamophobia and Homophobia, the actual religious part seems to have vanished long ago.

Well since all of the female gay Jews I know ARE atheist (or at least totally agnostic) we'd get them all at once. The only one I knew that I would consider a likely candidate was way too left for me to have voted for, but man was she smart!

Maybe a female gay Jew. But a straight guy Jew? It could happen within the next 20 years, easy. We almost did it with Lieberman in 2000 (although he was running for Veep at the time.)

As for Obama being an atheist...er, no. He's not a Christian Fundamentalist, sure, but he's definitely not an atheist. It's easy to mistake him for atheist when compared to the last president, but he isn't. Full stop. That man clearly believes in a deity.

I won't mock you, though; its just a simple opinion, and quite an interesting one.
