On Mandela's health

mahnmutI was asked about Mandela's health and the impact which his possible death could have on the South African society. Some concerns about 'panic' have been expressed over the last few days in our media, some even coming from ANC officials,
Well I think the panic concerns are very exaggerated. I haven't been able to closely follow the news about his health but as far as I am aware, people know very well that he cannot live forever, and they are prepared to accept his death when it comes. Of course they would be extremely sad but that's life. I don't want this to sound too insensitive, but we have far more pressing issues right now, and frankly, as much as we all love him, it's a fact that Mandela has largely become irrelevant these days.
