South African minnows Platinum Stars stunned visiting Al Ahly of Egypt 2-1 in the first leg of their African Champions League tie on Saturday.
Platinum Stars took the lead against the five-time African champions after 57 minutes with a goal from Koketso Mmotong.
Egypt international Emad Moteab looked to have earned Ahly a draw when he equalised with just eight minutes left on the clock.
But a goal in injury time from Edward Williams gave the South Africans an unlikely win.
It was Ahly's first game in this year's Champions League campaign after being given bye's in the opening two rounds of the competition.
The second leg of the tie in Cairo in two weeks time will decide who goes through to the group stages of the Champions League, the loser drops into the Confederation Cup.
