ANCYL 'won't obey Mantashe'
Apr. 14th, 2010 11:39 amA confrontation is looming between the ANC Youth League and Gwede Mantashe. This follows the Youth League's contemptuous response on Wednesday to the ANC secretary-general's instruction about singing the struggle song "shoot the boer".
Mantashe confirmed at Luthuli House in Johannesburg that he has instructed all the party's structures - including the youth league - not to sing the controversial song “Ayesab’ amagwala” until such time as the party takes a final decision and current lawsuits have been settled.
He told Die Burger on Tuesday that he has asked Julius Malema, leader of the ANC Youth League, not to sing the provocative part of the song, and to refrain from provocative statements and behaviour in general.
...But of course there's more to the story.
