Iran's stunt

Everybody's scratching their fingers all about Iran these days, regardless of how much they know or don't know on the matter. Until a few weeks ago, the only way to mention Iran was in relation to their nuke program, how they'd erase Israel from the map, and how eevul the Iranians are (Axis, anyone?) And now, suddenly everyone cares so much about democracy in Iran, isn't it amazing? I should jump on the bandwagon too - how come I still haven't made a green icon saying "Where's my/their/any vote?" In this sense, what
nairiporter suggested in a recent discussion (guess about what? - sure, about Iran!) made me think...
Is it just me who has this feeling that Iran has successfully diverted the attention from its nuclear program?
June 2009.
IAEA: Iran, what`s going on with your nuclear program?
Iran: Give me a break, can`t you see we are having political unrest here?
August 2009.
Iran: Those hippies from the opposition have finally shut up. Oh, by the way, we now have nukes.
IAEA: Oh fuck...
I know, I'm being a trollish asshole in this case, and playing devil's advocate hasn't been my speciality, but as cynical as it sounds, it makes an awful lot of sense, doesn't it? Or I'm just being stupid. Make your call.
(Of course, in order to broaden the debate, I'll block comments here and instead encourage everyone who has to say something, to spit it here.)
