The hypocritical pseudo-Puritan US society condemns the adultery of one of its idols, while indulging into fornication and moral vileness of all sorts?
Average Americans don't care that he lied and cheated, they're mad because he got caught. Getting away with things is "admirable" (that rascal!), but being stupid is not.
It was the same thing with Bill Clinton. Privately, people were like "Woo hoo, yeah! If I were him I'd be gettin' some too!" but in public they thought it was a disgrace to the Oval Office. The implication was that if he was in a hotel in Vegas, and no one found out until he published his memoires years later, then everything would have been just fine.
I can't grip my mind around this - how could someone who earns millions from commercial contracts, risk all that with writing a stupid memoir? A sudden call of conscience, or a temporary idiocy?
The memoire comes after the millions are safely in the bank. It's called "bragging", and some find the call irresistable. For others, they find out that someone ELSE is about to do an "unauthorised biography" so they figure they'd better spill the beans first.
*shrug* I'm still baffled at men who seem physically incapable of keeping certain body parts in their pants.
