he only meant unions for people in foreign countries, like Solidarity in Poland, NOT Americans. He fired thousands of air traffic controllers who opposed him. The man was a first class hypocrite.

Context: he was glorifying the unions in the ship-building factories in Gdansk, Poland. A state company.

If you don't see the difference between a ship builders union in Poland and a teachers union in the States. there isn't much I can do for you :P

Agreed - of course, if you asked him, it was all about Commies. Of course the "right" forgets why Unions and, for that matter, Commies were able to get their starts in the first place. Were it up to the "right" we would all end up religiously bound economic surfs and indentured servants IMHO.
