Not only, probably. On the other hand, things are a bit different in SA.

but i've heard reverse racism does exist in many parts of SA. In fact, i'm inclined to think that quite a bit of reverse racism occurs in SA, which is likely the explanation for soOoo many South Africans (Afrikaners mostly) showing up here for professional work in the USA. ~my opinion of course~

Racism and reverse racism are pretty alive and well in SA, yes. On a personal level. However I'm guessing the cartoon depicts institutional racism, i.e. the one created and maintained by government institutions in one form or another.

There are many reasons people from SA would emigrate, the main one being economic, mixed with racial change. I mean, now that blacks have access to the means of production and participation in society, some whites have felt their positions threatened, which prompted them to flee. I'm a bit of a strange case because I did the exact opposite. I moved from a West European country to here despite being white and of the Afrikaner community. The stranger thing in my case (some would say) is that I mostly live a "black" way of life, I mean I mostly interact with the black community, I work with blacks, I spend my time with them, most of the people I know and I care for are actually not Afrikaner, and so on.

i once heard it said that it is NOT survival of the fittest, but rather survival of the most adaptable :D you sir, seem most adaptable!

and yes, the community {and it's culture} within closest proximity will always influence the way we live our lives. it determines which spices are available at the supermarket. what styles of landscaping will be trendy. what fashions will arrive in a given area. what mannerisms will be subscribed to...u know, the FUN STUFF! :O)

Was having a chat about Sooth Ifricans last night with a friend; I said I always ask when they left, if they say "1994" I back away slowly.
