Transnistria: the double standard of the Great Powers

It all started well...
 Breakaway Transnistria votes for joining Russia  (Note: 97% per cent of the voters voted in favor of splitting from Moldova and joining Russia! the vote rate was above 75%.)
And went on well...
 Russian MFA: Transnistria Residents Used Direct Democracy ... (Mind you, Russia is not going to embrace the new republic just like that)
But just then...
 US Condemns Transdnestria Referendum 
 Europe Did Not Recognize Referendum in Transnistria 
Transnistria Referendum a Diversion: Romania’s FM 
EU Concerned With Eventual Complication Of Transnistria Settlement 

Now, i can understand Romania's position, but I'm more annoyed by the EU and US position on this issue. Yes we all know the reason for their stance on Transnistria, but who was talking about democracy and the free will of the population? (Reference: Kosovo!)  A blatant example of double standard.
