Your professional military is raping women in Iraq and peeing on dead corpses in Afghanistan. There's no justification for that. None whatsoever. "This is war" is no justification.
War does funny (peculiar) things to people who stay in it long enough. I don't think anyone would defend this as a good idea, and I think that 10 years of US misrule in Afghanistan is plenty long enough, the civil war there won't and can't end so long as outside powers are involved.
I think also that it's the very ease of modern media in showing this kind of thing that makes it worse. People have always done barbaric things like this in war. Most of the time it's not been seen and is often known too long after the fact to redress it. Now this is seen full-time, and if people have sufficiently strong stomachs, so is what war is like in the real world, and things like what firepower does to human flesh and blood are also visible.
This kind of thing has always been there, and it's always been horrible. It's also always been able to be hidden in earlier wars but not so much now. I would hope the generals in my country's high command have the pragmatism to get this out of the picture but a sufficient crackdown, but given the repeated scandals involving torture in fashions that violate my country's own prior precedents I'm not very optimistic on that.
They've committed a war crime, let's see how the US military justice system handles it, given that the US is a rogue state and the ICC can't deal with it.
that's like almost perfect slang...how did you do that? O_O
oth, frack the Taliban....you see the way they treat their female counterparts???!!! it's true isn't it, that the women are not considered counterparts at all, and get their bodies buried whilst their heads be stoned for any accusation borderlining adultery....just saying. **ok sorry, i'll breath deeply before typing/responding next time*** oops
