On his show, heart-surgeon-turned-satirist Bassem Youssef bridges the gap between the reality of life in Egypt and the disconnected way it's portrayed in the national media. (video 1) (video 2)
Egypt is yet another illustration of how the USA conceives of freedom: we always lover our ideals here in the People's Republic of Yankeestan up until it means we actually have to put those ideas in effect. Then we suddenly realize that actual choice means people might vote for people who we disapprove of or like and all of a sudden a dictatorship is morally good. At least Brezhnev you expected to prop up corrupt dictators for convenience, the USA made a major issue for itself when it took to itself messianic, moralistic rhetoric of righteousness and proceeded to act just like everybody else.
