Whites-only nudist colony for Orania

The people of Orania, the little volkstaat south of Kimberley, are outraged at the prospect of a whites-only nudist colony near the town.

"Of course we will oppose it! We are children of God and we do not want a bunch of kaalgatte (naked people) in our town. We will oppose it with our whole being," said resident Bettie Schutte from Afsaal Cafe this week.

She was reacting to an announcement by South Africa's ageing self-proclaimed nudist king, Beau Brummel, that he intended opening a whites-only nudist colony on Cluytjes Kraal, a farm in the Volkstaat, in the next three weeks.

Is it a segment of Orania's population that wants a nude beach? Or is it other people not affiliated with Orania who want to set one up nearby? In either case, I'm very surprised that it could be officially restricted by race...

Ok, I read the article :-) it seems to be an elaborate joke of some kind, to make a statement about Orania's own ideas of a pure Afrikaner state...

They took it rather seriously, though. They took it as a mockery. The Oranians I mean. At least a segment of them. Shows how little sense of humor they have :-)

It's more of the second. And it's surely surprising, but when we're talking about Orania, nothing should surprise us.
