One of my kwaito idols, Mduduzi Tshabalala "Mandoza" has gone the wrong way; he killed two men when driving his car into theirs. I wonder whether he will enjoy some special attitude by the authorities just because he is a famous person, or he would undergo extraordinarily tough consequences just because of the same fact. It's a very delicate situation...

Mandoza wants to meet victims' families
Kwaito singer Mandoza would like to meet the families of the two men who were killed after he drove into the back of their car on Saturday.

"I am deeply distressed about this terrible tragedy and the fact that two young men have lost their lives as a result of the accident," Mduduzi Tshabalala (Mandoza) said in a statement on Tuesday.

"I would like to meet with the families of both men to offer my sincere condolences."

The accident, which claimed the lives of Phillip Thebe and Charles Tshabalala, happened in the early hours of Saturday morning after Mandoza attended the Stars of Mzanzi awards on Friday night.

Was it an accident? Was he found to be negligible or is there any reason to suspect that he was?

I don't think so. But he killed two people.

Yeah, it's horrible that two people died. I just didn't know if you were blaming him or not.

I wish I couldn't blame him. My point was, it's now up to the court to show a lack of double standard, which I sincerely doubt they will.

Oh, after thinking about it more I realized that I must have misunderstood what you meant by your post. You aren't blaming him, just noting that he had bad luck or something.

Anyone could have bad luck. The investigation has yet to reveal whether he was too arrogant on the road because of his celebrity status, or because he is a more aggressive character or whatever. I was just noting that the situation is very delicate for the authorities, not for him. For him, it's all clear - he killed two people, be it for negligence, carelessness or bad luck. Now the ball is in the court's yard.
