US PRESIDENT GEORGE W BUSH

"Mr President-elect, congratulations to you. What an awesome night for you, your family and your supporters.

"I promise to make this a smooth transition. You are about to go on one of the great journeys of life. Congratulations and go enjoy yourself."

I find it enlightening that Bush thinks the presidency is supposed to be a fun thing... I wonder if the promise to make it a smooth transition means "it's all yours! I'm off to the Ranch."

I hope American's take note of the note of optimism in the comments of the leaders of the rest of the world. I think the Kenyan president said it best:

"I am confident that your presidency shall herald a new chapter of dialogue between the American people and the world at large."

Now Obama has won, what are the rest of us (as the world) going to do?

When Bush was in power we had carte blanche to abuse Americans and ridicule them. Now it just might be the Yanks have elected someone who may be somewhere near decent!

Ah, well off to William hill, to find out the odds on him being assassinated. Keep a look out on the book depository Obama ;-)

I wouldn't mind if he moved the torch handoff to earlier than January 20.
