Are humans from Earth?

I recently commented on a friend's entry showing how people are still willing to torture other people. And I think it'd be good to share it:

This exposes the innate cruelty of humans. Which makes me wonder whether we really originate from this planet as a species. We sit so unnaturally to the whole picture - a stain of disharmony in the whole picture of harmony...

What do you guys think?

Well at least every species kills as much as it needs to feed, not for fun or for some fashion whims.

Animals are as evil as humans are. Its like how children are as much douches as adults, but they can't act on it since they are stupid kids, so we think their incompetence is actually some kind of innocence. The reason babies and cats don't start nuclear wars is because they don't know where the red button is.

It's more like an innate tendency to do as we're told, even if that means hurting others. I can't access that entry but is it about that study where one person was ordered to "electrocute" someone else during a study?

Well most people who kept on electrocuting the other "subject" usually experienced great duress, and only continued under pressure from the "authority figure" next to them.

I strongly recommend you read The Sociopath Next Door. It's an often-frightening book about people in our society who literally have no remorse (and it's not just serial killers, but those are an extreme example), but in the end it will restore your faith in humanity.
