Zille: ANCYL is full of Gucci revolutionaries
Zille, who has taken her campaign trail to the country's university campuses, said members of the ANC Youth League were interested only "in keeping on (ANC president Jacob) Zuma's right side, lining their back pockets and entrenching their power inside and outside the party". -- You hit the nail on the head, meid! But...
The African National Congress had betrayed South Africa's youth, while the "Gucci revolutionaries" of its youth league couldn't care less about empowering and developing young people, Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille told University of Cape Town students on Thursday. -- Have you actually been to an ANCYL meeting? Ever?
Acknowledging "a new wave of interest in politics among young people", Zille noted there were more than one million young South Africans aged between 18 and 29 who had registered to vote for the first time in the April 22 elections. -- And you surely wanna tap that new wave, right? Don't lie, I can smell it.
Another student, who would give his name only as Chumani, said he was astounded by Zille's approach and the fact that she had put aside campaigning to deal with students' concerns. -- Amazing, isn't it? Especially when knowing that the election is knocking at the door. I guess Chumani missed to ask her where had she been beforehand. Duh...
...
ANC policies had caused the number of disadvantaged youth to grow: Stats SA's latest unemployment data revealed that 75 percent of those without jobs were aged between 15 and 34. -- And what's your plan for reversing that trend? Apart from counter-productive rant?
"These figures are an indictment of the ANC," Zille said. -- Jislaaik. Way to go with far-fetched assumptions.
"Many of these people have no prospect of finding gainful employment," she said. -- Look, I have a proposal for you. Let's swap places for a year, and then we can talk more. Sheila.
Besides, I prefer Armani. ;-)
