How the hive works:

...as a continuation/example for The Hive.
Some background.
Group X hosts persons X1, X2, X3, X4, X5, X6, X7, X8, X9 & X10. They're all friends/allies. You just don't mess with Group X, or else.
Group Y hosts persons Y1, Y2, Y3, Y4 & Y5. They pretty much listen to what Y1 says, and respectfully agree.
Group Z hosts persons X1, X2, X3, X4, X5, Y1, Y2, Z1, Z2, Z3, etc. It's pretty mixed up there, and it's become the actual arena of the X v Y clashes.
Situation 1.
Y1 says something stupid in Group Y. Y2, Y3, Y4 & Y5 say "This!"
X1 notices that Y1 said something stupid, and shares it in Group X. X2, X3, X4, X5, X6, X7, X8, X9 & X10 say "How stupid! Haha!"
Situation 2.
Y2 says something on Group Z which X1-10 disagree with (How do they know they disagree? Well, they're of Group X after all! So they all disagree).
X1 notices this and spreads the word on Group X.
Group X go to Group Z, and they pile over Y2, eventually driving them off the map. Victory!
Situation 3.
In Group Z, Z1 has a conversation with X2, and calls X2 "baby".
X2 is not happy and complains in Group X. X1, X3, X4, X5, X6, X7, X8, X9 & X10 say "How awful!"
X1 jumps right into the middle of Conversation Z1-X2, slamming Z1: "Why did you call X2 a baby? You're a terrible person! Apologize!", to which Z1 responds: "Who are you to jump in here? Apologize? Me? No I won't!"
X1 raves on Group X, and X3, X4, X5, X6, X7, X8, X9 & X10 step up their support, but Z1 still insists they didn't mean to offend X2. However, X1 insists they did.
Z2 comes in, using some vague arguments to defend Z1 and explain how, you see, Z1 didn't mean to offend X2, and X1 is wrong to insist an apology from Z1 on behalf of X2. X1 is adamant, and so is Z1. Meanwhile, X2 is hurt, and Z2 is having their fun debate over semantics.
Guys on the sidelines can only sit in awe and headdesk.
